On Tuesday, December 10th, The Dublin City Interfaith Forum facilitated the first informational meeting of the InterMu-Se Project at Trinity College. With the goal of combatting anti-Muslim hatred and anti-Semitism in our community, many gathered from diverse backgrounds to learn more about this innovative project. Leaders from a multitude of religious communities as well as representatives from the Garda Síochána discussed the need for increased religious literacy in the National Curriculum, more accurate data regarding hate crimes, and ways we, as individuals and as interfaith advocates, can best support marginalized religious communities.
On Friday, December 13th, three members of DCIF traveled to Mary Immaculate College in Limerick to host another informational meeting. Members of the Mid-West Interfaith Network sparked an important conversation about how interfaith organizations can collaborate with and support each other within Ireland. Together, we discussed the findings of the OSCE Hate Crime Report. We also established an action plan to generate more responses for our survey.
By deepening pre-existing relationships and establishing new ones, the Dublin City Interfaith Forum is eager to continue our contributions to the European Union’s InterMu-Se Project.
